Inca trail (2 days / 1 night)

With this program, we will live one of the best experiences in Cusco, we will finish the Inca trail in 2 days and 1 night, we will be able to appreciate unique places and we will visit the Machu Picchu citadel.
During the journey, we can enjoy the natural beauty that is present throughout our travel, it is without a doubt an experience that people all over the world would love to live.
This wonderful Inca path crosses only a small part of the whole Peruvian jungle, composed of protected fauna and flora, this path will lead us to different Inca archaeological sites. Today, it is a privilege for us to be able to offer you the experience of walking the same paths that our ancestors used in their pilgrimage to the sacred citadel of Machu Picchu.

ITINERARY

DAY 1: Cusco - Km 104 – Wiñaywayna - Aguas Calientes

Very early in the morning we will leave the city of Cusco. We will travel to Ollantaytambo, where we will board the train heading to Aguas Calientes; this train will have a special stop at km 104, where we will have to descend to start our walk on the Inca trail. The Inca trail starts with a walk to Chachabamba, situated at 2270masl, later we will continue walking until we reach Winaywayna, situated at 2650masl, one of the most important archeological sites, after Machu Picchu. The day is almost over and the path takes us to Puerta del Sol (Sun Gate) “Inti Punku”, with the few sun rays we can enjoy the sunset at Machu Picchu. Remember Machu Picchu is located at 2400masl, so, if you have already been in Cusco, the altitude will not be a problem. The day being over, we will reach the village of Aguas Calientes (Machu Picchu village), where we will lodge and have a well-deserved rest.

DAY 2: Aguas Calientes - Santuario de Machu Picchu - Cusco

Early in the morning we will have breakfast at the hotel. Later, we will head to the bus station, situated in the lower part of the village. In a journey of 30 minutes we will head to the sacred city of Machu Picchu. After arriving at the citadel around 6am, our guide will welcome us and will provide detailed information on Machu Picchu, the history and culture of the Incas. The guided tour will take around 2 hours, later you can travel freely around Machu Picchu until a reasonable hour, keeping in mind the schedule of the return train.

After the guided visit, we will descend to Aguas Calientes on the bus and you will have the afternoon free to explore the village or visit the Hot Springs; at a convenient time, we will board the return train that will take us to Ollantaytambo station. Here, a member of the company´s staff will be waiting to assist you and return to Cusco.
