Our journey starts in Cusco, we pick you up at the hotel around 7 in the morning, to start our tour to Machu Picchu by car. We will travel on our bus to Ollantaytambo; here we will make a short stop to have breakfast and buy the last provisions. Later, we will continue the journey, passing by “Abra Malaga”, which is located at 4316masl. This will be the highest point of the journey, we will continue the trip on an asphalted road, we will descend experiencing the feeling of passing from the cold temperature of the Andes to the tropical climate of the jungle. After reaching the place known as Alfamayo, we will start our journey on the highway, until we reach Santa Teresa(1575masl) around 2 in the afternoon. In Santa Teresa district we can enjoy lunch and later we will continue our trip by car to Hidroelectrica train station, where we will reach around 3 in the afternoon. At this point, we can choose from 2 options: the first one and the more advisable if you feel tired is boarding a train that will take us directly to the village of Aguas Calientes, the train journey will last around 30 minutes. The second option and the most preferred by visitors is walk to Aguas Calientes, the walk lasts around 2 hours and a half, it is done one a secured way by the side of the highway and on the way you can appreciate the exuberant vegetation of the Cusquene jungle.
After reaching Aguas Calientes(Machu Picchu village), you will have time to have dinner, settle in the hotel you selected and if you still have the strength, you can visit the Hot Springs. This night, our guide will visit you at the hotel to welcome you and explain in detail the itinerary of visiting the Machu Picchu citadel.
This will be the most special day of our trip, we will visit Machu Picchu, one of The Seven Wonders of the world. We will enjoy an early breakfast at the hotel, so that later we can head to the bus station, to take the bus that will get us from Aguas Calientes to the top of the mountain, where Machu Picchu citadel is located. Our professional guide will start the tour, sharing his best knowledge about the Inca city, the guided visit lasts for around 2 hours, afterwards you will have a bit of free time in Machu Picchu, so you can take the best photos of this experience. After this visit, we will return by bus to Aguas Calientes, where we can start our return trip, whether on foot or boarding the train to Hidroelectrica. At Hidroelectrica, our staff will be waiting for you to take you in our bus to Cusco, where we will reach around 9:30 at night.
