CUSCO + HIDROLECTRICA + MACHU PICCHU + RAINBOW MOUNTAIN

DAY 2 : CUSCO – HIDROLECTRICA – AGUAS CALIENTES

Today we will start our trip by car to Machu Picchu. We will pick you up from your hotel in Cusco around 6:30 in the morning; our bus will take us to Ollantaytambo. Here we will have a short stop in order to have breakfast (optional). Later we will continue our journey all the way to the place known as Abra Malaga situated at 4316 masl. This will be the highest point of our journey; from here we will continue the journey descending from the Andes to the jungle brow. Upon reaching the place known as Alfamayo, our highway journey will begin until we reach Santa Teresa, situated at 1575 masl. Around 2 o´clock in the afternoon, in Santa Teresa district we can enjoy lunch; later, we will continue our journey by car to the train station of Hidroelectrica, where we will reach approximately at 3 o´clock in the afternoon. Here, we can choose from 2 options: the first and the most advisable if you feel tired is boarding a train that will take directly to the village of Aguas Calientes; the journey by train will take around 30 minutes. The other option, chosen by most of the visitors is walking to Aguas Calientes. The walk takes around 2 and a half hours and it is done by a road that is secured to the side of the railway. On the way, one can appreciate the exuberant vegetation of the Cusquene jungle.
Upon reaching Aguas Calientes (Machu Picchu village) you will have time to have dinner, settle into the hotel you have chosen and if you still have the strength, you can visit the Hot Springs. This night our guide will visit you at your hotel to welcome you and explain to you in detail the itinerary to visit the Machu Picchu Citadel. Hotel night in Aguas Calientes.

DAY 3 : AGUAS CALIENTES – MACHU PICCHU – CUSCO.

This day will the most special of our journey, we will visit Machu Picchu one of the Seven Wonders of the World. We will enjoy an early breakfast at the hotel, so that we can later head to the bus station that will take us from Aguas Calientes to the top of the mountain, where the citadel of Machu Picchu is located. Our specialist guide will start the tour, sharing his best knowledge about the Inca city; the guided visit has a duration of around 2 hours; after, you will have a bit of free time in Machu Picchu to take the best photos of your experience. After the visit, we will return by bus to Aguas Calientes, where we can start our return trip; on this occasion, we need to head to the train station, where we will board the train to return to Hidroelectrica. In Hidroelectrica, our staff will be waiting for you to transfer you in our bus to Cusco, reaching around 9p.m. at night. Hotel night in Cusco.

DAY 4 : RAINBOW MOUNTAIN

This day will be very special, we will visit the famous Rainbow Mountain of Cusco. Our program starts in Cusco, between 4:30a.m.-5:00a.m. we will pick you up from your hotel. We will head to the south of the city, passing Urcos district, until we reach Cusipata; the journey time up to this point is of approximately 1 hour and a half. At this point we will enjoy a nutritious breakfast, which will last around 40 minutes. After a short briefing, we will continue our journey with the direction being the first point of our walk, the community of “Fula wasi pata”. This trip will last around 1 hour and a half. Finally we will start our adventure at the foot of the snowy mountain Ausangate; the walk will take around 1 hour and a half and we will pass beautiful landscapes until we reach the highest point of our journey: during our travel, we will have the opportunity to see distinct varieties of South American camels, as well as local flora. Upon reaching the top, we can appreciate the beautiful “Rainbow Mountain”, we will have time to take photos of this enigmatic place, where we will remain around 40 minutes. After the visit, our descent walk will start, which will be approximately 1 hour until we reach the starting point again. Here, our bus will be waiting to transfer us to a restaurant in Cusipata, where our delicious lunch will be waiting for us. In the afternoon, we will reach the city of Cusco at around 4:00p.m.
